I weighed myself on my scale at home this morning instead of the one at the centre (the one I use every Thursday)... it says 213 lbs, so I can now say that the scale at home is broken because there is no way I am 213 lbs already (if only)... I guess I just have to wait until Thursday to see how much i'm losing. I'm just really worried that I'm not losing anymore weight, i'm really hoping for a 5lb loss this week but realistically I don't know how much I should be losing from here on because I realize the first week in losing weight is usually the most lbs lost (see week 1; 11 lbs) and the following weeks are a lot less.

My ultimate goal is to lose most of my weight before my first year of college this September. If I really try hard, i'm determined to make my goal a reality... here's to hoping!

sam men lose alot quicker than women. In my magazine a man lost something like 7stone in 8 months (i'd have to double check that but near enough right) so if you have big losses don't worry too much, as long as you're eating a sensible amount and exercising then nothing to get worried about.

and also you feel good, you can be hungry, but not so hungry you cheat. or feel dizzy.  let your body tell you what it needs.

if you really want to test your scale at home, get
something of a known weight (ie a 5lb dumbell, bag
of flour etc) and put it on the scale and see if it reads
correctly.

Thanks for the tips guys!

I have my 2nd weekly weigh-in tomorrow, getting very anxious to know what I weigh now. I really hope for the best results because I think I've worked harder this week (been doing 30 situps everyday for the week, and going a lot faster on the treadmill). Wish me luck guys!

Ooooooh wishing you good luck for your weigh in tomorrow Sam  , I'm sure your hard work will pay off very well!

Shy , thanks for the tip on scales accuracy , I always thought my scales weighed lighter ( as I weigh more on the gym and Dr's scales by about 2 kgs  ) BUT , I tested my scales by weighing a 2.5 kg bag of dog food on them , and they read 2.5kgs exactly ) . It's just got me a bit puzzled , surely , just by eating/drinking and having clothing on , it wouldn't make me gain 2kgs? seems a bit excsessive , but anyway , I'm happy my scales are accurate , so I'm not heavier than I thought .

Week 2: 218 lbs -- 5lbs lost

I am generally happy, I know that it starts slowing down now. I am trying to keep my patience up... everything worthwhile takes time. No picture this week as I'm sure 5 lbs won't make too much of a difference in appearance, possibly next week.

If I keep at this pace, or close to it, I can achieve my goal by September. Hopefully.

great job! You are right, 5lbs lost in one week won't
make a big diff on your appearance, not likely
anyway.

Thanks Shy, and yeah I figured as much.  I was taking a look at a calendar and thought I'd make a short-term goal of 200 lbs by May 3rd.

Though I feel a cold is coming up, the weather over here was so unexpected and I wasn't ready for it. I just hope i'm wrong because I won't be able to lose as much weight if i'm sick.

Sam, you're doing awesome!  I have a pretty bad cold myself now...my boss had one last week so I knew it would come around to me.  It does make it more difficult...I haven't been to the gym in the past 2 days...but try not to let it get the best of you.

Bought a new scale today for those days that I can't wait until Thursday. I weighed myself today and it said 214.7 lbs, which really shocked me... I was 218 lbs 2 days ago and now I'm 214?? Very strange, I'm starting to think that this scale is broken too, lol. I know that guys lose weight fast but this is really fast considering I'm eating/excersising like I usually do. Need to find a scale that says my right weight because it keeps getting my hopes up.

Well.... my 3rd weigh-in is tomorrow, I have no Idea what I'm at right now and i'm a little nervous because I feel like I havn't been working as hard this week. I'm hoping for good results nonetheless, I'd really like to reach my goal of under 200 lbs by May 3rd so I really need to stay consistent. I just hope I don't plateau anytime soon, i'm really bad with those and I tend to give up easily.

I think I need to start doing new excerises or even more of what I'm doing currently. It seems as if 30 min of cardio/30 sit-ups daily isn't enough now. If anyone has some ideas of what other things I can try that'd be great (currently i'm leaving out weight-training, going to focus on that once I have lost more weight). I use the gym in my apartment so equipment is very limited. I have thought about maybe going 1 hr of cardio/day or maybe add some swimming into my activities.

I guess i'll just have to wait until Thursday to get a solid answer on whether I need to start working harder or not. I'm only nearing the end of week 3 and already feeling a little awkward, I need to stay motivated but it's getting tougher by the week.  I'm seeing positive results yet I still don't feel satisfied with myself (its as if my mind isn't ready for the change like my body is).

Good luck with tomorrow's weigh-in, Sam

I think it would be a good idea to vary the exercises a bit so as not to get bored or slow down your metabolism.

I find it helps to make a list (even a mental list would do) of the reasons why I want to be doing this, and another one of the differences in my daily life that I have noticed since I have started on this journey, e.g. being happier and more energetic, having more self-confidence, not being out of breath after running uphill for a bit to catch the train, not "zoning out" at 3pm anymore, feeling lighter, etc. When I feel discouraged I just look at that list and tell myself that my effort is NOT going to nothing; I am actually seeing (and feeling) results. Taking measurements has helped too, and I wish I had done so from the start. I would also say taking pictures, but you're already doing that.

Thanks Saph, you're right, I think I should change up my excersizing so I don't get bored! The place I go to get weighed also does measurements. I did my first measurements when I was at 232 lbs and I'm supposed to have it done a month later, so that's April 23rd, looking forward to it.

Week 3: 2 lbs lost -- 216 lbs

I'm guessing this is a typical amount of weight I should be losing every week from now on. I was told to limit the excersise to 5 days a week instead of everyday because I was having a lack of energy. I am SO exhausted I could sleep for an entire week!

Sam you are doing a wonderful job! I don't exercise on weekends and I find that really helps me have the motivation to do it during the week. Don't push yourself to hard. You'll just burn yourself out. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Limecrush. I've decided to take a break from excersising and limit it to 5days/week for now, than when I'm feeling better I'm going to start doing 1hr cardio with the addition of bike-riding with a friend.

I'm going to change my short-term goal to adjust an approx. 2lb loss a week. Instead of 200lbs by May 3rd, i'm aiming for 200 lbs by June 7th. I really hope the losses are at 2lbs a week, not any less... I really want to be at a good weight this summer.

Well.... 4th weigh-in is tomorrow, I think I may be getting measurements as well because it's been a month since I've started my weight-loss journey. Something tells me that I havn't even lost 2lbs this week... it's getting so much harder.  All I can do is hope for the best....

Week 4: 4 lbs lost -- 212 lbs

Woww!!!!!! I lost 4 lbs this week!!! :D I am absolutley shocked right now... I can't believe it. It looks like taking a 2 day break from excersizing a week really does help... and I had excersized those 5 other days a lot more agressivley.  Wooohooo!!

I've done my measurements as well... 9inches lost in 1 month and well as 22 lbs lost in 1 month! I am just so happy right now!

Thank you guys so much!!!

I was wondering, do you guys think that its been long enough since my last picture? I'm not sure if I should take one next week before my next weigh-in or not. Not sure if it i'll be able to notice much of a difference since my last picture. (from 223lbs to 212lbs)
