I've tried many times before to loose weight and I could never stick to it.. This time I have just made it a part of my day.. I make sure that I make time every day to workout.. You feel so much better when you do. On the days that I feel like just sitting on the couch and watching tv I put my workout gear on and get on the treadmill, you feel so good after its over and what is 20-30mins out of your day.

I have really found that making my lunch especially (I always ate out for lunch) has helped with keeping me on track with my healthy eating.. If you can just get through the first few weeks cut out the sugars and salts etc. your body will adjust and you won't have the cravings any longer.

I have lost 26lbs in the past few months and trust me when people start noticing it makes you feel really good and all the hard work is definately worth it!!

Good luck you can do it!!!

I use to work out at a gym 3 days a week and found it hard to fit this in my routine. I now exercise at home which is a lot more convenient. I was recommended to a CD and DVD which gives gentle exercises and helps you to curb your emotional eating and helps you to relax.  I’m also finding this is helping me to eat smaller portions and eat slower. I’m feeling really excited as in the last few weeks I have lost weight from my stomach, hips and thighs. I’m really finding it very helpful and feel I can gain control of my eating habits. It’s starting to make me feel good about myself again.

I just wrote a blog post about this and then I came across your question.
See my blog in my signature.

I think you have to look at your life as a whole. Why do you want to lose
weight? What are the positives you hope for when you do lose the weight?
You have to find motivation for yourself. If it is "just losing weight", that
is not enough.

Also don't try to do everything at one time. If you break it up, it won't
seem like so much. Maybe you can start walking someone. It can just be
10 mins. Anything to get moving.

For eating, try to cut out one thing a week. Maybe soda. Maybe fried
foods. If you're going to want to lose weight, you'll have to lower your
calories and you want to get rid of "empty" calories.

Hope this helps you.

Hi,

It's never easy to stick to a diet program.  I love fried foods, the smell of them is just so tempting.  But when my little boy (a 7 year old) asked me if I was pregnant because my tummy was bulging, that just hit me. I looked myself in the mirror and he was right. I was fat.  Well I was aware I gained some weight but you know it's convenient to convince yourself you're not.  So I decided to do something about it.  My husband was very supportive of my diet.  He made it sure I was exercising right and eating right.  I don't think I could have made it through without his support.  Our diet was juicing - a juice diet program.  It worked for him so he wanted me to try it and it did me good.

I hope you will get through whatever your diet program is.  Goodluck!

Cheers!

After gaining and losing and gaining and losing...and now stable at a good weight,  I finally learned that what you need to succeed is a commitment to treat yourself as well as you probably treat everyone else - with care and compassion. You can't stay on a diet out of self-hate. And most everyone who has a weight problem hates themselves for it. But it's a vicious cycle, because you end up eating to soothe yourself for reason x, y or z.

So the first step is to start thinking about yourself differently, whatever weight you are. The better you treat yourself in general, the easier it is to make healthier food choices consistently and change your eating patterns. And taking care of yourself doesn't mean buying "stuff." It can mean, for example, making sure you get enough sleep (because you're worth it). Or putting lotion on your skin (because you're worth it). Or taking 15 minutes out of a busy day to read for fun and not feel guilty. Strangely and wonderfully, it all adds up to more ability to stick to a healthy-eating plan.

If you need extra support, there are tools out there to help. See signature below.

Goal setting, visualization, and positive thinking are not new strategies when someone is trying to succeed at something but they are normally not something you find in your average weight loss program or book – although these techniques have been used by body builder, models and athletes for years.

Hope this helps. these tips and more realy helped me out.

1.
Know the payback of working out. You are far more motivated to try new things with the knowledge that you will benefit from them. The more we benefit the more motivated we are. For instance, if I told you I'd hand you a $1,000,000 to take a 30 minute hike in the morning, would you do it? Of course you would! The benefits of working out are not quit as compelling as the money, but they are pretty motivating.
2. Create your individual " record". Keep a bit of paper and pencil handy for a number of days. Jot down EVERY motive you can think of that you want, get healthy / get in shape / lose weight/well being.
I spoke to a woman a couple of month’s back who could barely think of two things that she wanted from losing weight. I told her to think on it for bit longer and she came up with a record of more than 30 reasons, such as.. - more energy to spend quality time with her folks in the evening - to be able to fit into all the clothes in her closet - to be able to live a long, healthy life to take pleasure in time with her children, spouse, and grandchildren (eventually) - to not be uncomfortable in public - to not become out of breath  climbing stairs - to be able to indulge in "energetic" things with her folks and acquaintances - to be able to fool around on the floor with her children - to be able to wear sexy clothes
Her record goes on, but you grasp the picture. Make a long, extensive record. This might not seem essential, but it is critical to be able to read this record if your motivation to weight loss starts to slip. It's a powerful way to quickly become "motivated!"
3. Exercise with a companion. Statistics tell us with the motivation of two people exercising together means they are far more likely to exercising consistently. You can keep each other accountable. Knowing that someone is waiting and relying on you to exercise with them can be immensely motivating for both!
4. Exercise as soon as you get up in the morning, each morning. If you are really serious about this get to it, and be serious about exercise. Our bodies were made to be energetic on a day by day basis and once we start getting energetic all sorts of wonderful things take place.. We even get healthy and fit!
People who exercise 6 to 7 days of every week soon as they get up in the morning, are far more likely to exercising consistently, and be motivated about it and will benefit from it the most.

Try to have a smaller goal in a shorter time interval, for e.g a goal of losing 2-3 lbs/week. monitor and work towards this smaller goal, u will find it easier to achieve your desired result this way. hope this help.
