Hello all as you can see I have let myself go quite badly.I am 25 yrs old and quite overweight.I used to be really skinny with huge boobs (large C cup) but now having put on 50 pounds over the last 6 years my bra size has shot up to an epic H cup.

Yes the situation is quite desperate and I know step 1 is not consuming about 2500 calories everyday plus with little activity...I get that diet is about lifestyle and not just losing weight. It's just I'm not entirely sure where to begin, even with all the literature about on the internet. The choice is massive.

I need to get healthy by dropping at least 43 lbs or 22 kilos by next February.I have a long slog ahead but it has to be done. How do I track my weight on here?

Should I take a naked pic of myself and use that as inspiration for when the cravings hit or just run around at the local track field?

Oh what to do???

Thank you

Hi Floopie,

You are right, the internet has so many different options and opinions to choose from to lose weight that it can be overwhelming.  This is a great place to start, here you can
see what has worked for other people and get support to keep you on track.

It is always a good idea to take your before picture, this is very motivational.  But, you don't have to be naked, just put on something that shows your shape, maybe like a jobbing bra and shorts or a swimsuit.  Take pictures of each side of you and put them somewhere where you can see them everyday.

As you start losing weight, you may not be able to feel the difference at first, but you will be able to see the difference in your mirror compared to your pictures and this is very encouraging to keep going.

You can do this,

Also floopie,

Exercise of some kind will help tremendously.  Try walking, just go as far as you can, start out slow and build yourself up to longer distances.  You will be surprised how much better you will feel.

Thank You so much for your words of encouragement and for your suggestions.I will be going through what everyone else has been writing and try to get some ideas and motivation for this hard slog.I've decided to go swimming and walk at least 3 miles a day for a start.

That is the first step, and swimming and walking are both great exercises.  Keep in mind though that if you haven't been exercising, you need to work your way up to the mileage.  If it is comfortable for you to go 3 miles, then go for it.  But, if it is difficult, go as far as you can, you don't want to injure yourself or get frustrated because it is too hard.

Keep on moving,

First thing you need to do is put an exercise program together.  I would suggest working out one hour 4-5 days a week.   Then you got to start eating healthy meals following the basic diet 101 rules.   This is a good place to start and finish.  Next start posting your results here on the forum.

Hi,

You seriously start thinking of weight loss surgery as it is one of the basic reason behind a lot of serious diseases like Diabetes, Cancer, and so on.

Start doing excercise at a regular basis, balanced and nutritious diet. And if all these don't works for you think of weight loss surgery.

Hi,

Its high time you must see a doctor as early as possible because the way your weight is increasing is not a good sign ,it may lead to many serious diseases such as diabetes and moreover cancer.

Seems like to me that eating healthy is a much better alternative to surgery. Maybe post some stories around your PC of the countless people that lose their lives during the, that could motivate you in a huge way.

I do traditional eating styles here and basic exercise. Sticking to grass fed meats and an organic lifestyle changed my life.

Good luck on your journey

well this is certainly true.  as you said you are trying to decrese you calorie consumption and your weight is still intact. maybe there is something wrong. in your case you must loose at least some pounds already.

I normally jump start my weight loss program with a 1 week 1000 calorie diet plan, and progressively adding calorie to my diet.

I am on a low fat diet, abt 20% fat and 20% on protein and the rest carbs.

also, i insist to exercise 60 min a day, moderate.

i manage to lose 2.5 lbs 1 week and now i am targeting to reach my 10 lbs target this week.

Wow Marco way to go with this 10 pound goal...I have lost 4 pounds this week...slowly but surely. My biggest problem is that I don't excercise at all....most of what I burn off is because I'm sticking to 1200 calories maximum per day.I was thinking of trying this juice diet and see how that goes down plus increasing my exercise too like say walking at moderate pace for 30 mins per day.

Don't waste your time doing all the internet search, you
might become rich with info but no action taken_because
you'd have become confused by then.
The principle is this:
Know what you eat,
Eat what you know,
Decrease your calorie intake and
Step up your exercise routine.
Just do it!

Good Luck to you....

Hey, we're the same weight and just about the same height...except I'm ten years younger than you.   For exercise, I use the Wii Fit Plus--to put it mildly, it's freakin' awesome, and costs a lot less than gym memberships.  It has lots of aerobics and strength training with it, and yoga too.  I wouldn't recommend diet pills, though, they can be very very bad for your health.

Saying your diet should be about lifestyle is really true. It all begins with the choices you make at the groceries store.

Eating healthy is one half of the fat loss journey, I don't recommend any low-fat or low-carb diets since it's all crap.

With a low-fat diet you limit one of the important macronutrients that your body needs to function appropriately. The fats that people don’t eat is often replaced by carbohydrates thus increasing higher insulin levels which makes you crave for more carbs. Additionally this will make it difficult to lose weight with a low-fat diet.

I'm not saying fat is healthy for your body since there are bad fats as well you just need to know what good and bad fats are.

If you know the right fats to eat it can even help you to lose more fat and get lean.

My best advice for you is to do more full-body multi-joint workouts with higher intensity. This will increase your resting metabolism rate and fat-burning hormones making you lose more fat.

You can think about weight training for example, I don’t mean really heavy weights but just enough for you to with a decent high intensity. And don’t worry women don’t have the hormonal too balance big muscles with weight training.

And stay away from low-carb diets because you will lose lean muscle and this decreases your resting metabolic rate thus making it harder for you to lose fat. Even though you could lose some fat with these low-carb diets I recommend not doing them.

Also reduce the amount of grains and get more carbohydrates from vegetables.

I hope this will help you a little bit, if you’ve got question just ask.

Hi Floopie
Losing weight is really hard, especially as most people are completely uneducated about food & what to eat & when & why & the importance of carbs & proteins & good fats etc. In my opinion food is probably the most important aspect of your weight loss journey, exercise is also important. However, you can train like a maniac at the gym & not lose any weight  if you don't understand the importance of what your eating.

I don't believe in magic pills & I don't believe in starving yourself thin & I don't believe in training like a maniac.  I do believe you need to change your lifestyle, & I do believe you need to learn about food.

There are a lot of programs you can join that will hold you hand & show you exactly what you need to do to lose weight & in my opinion joining a program will help you more than trying to do it by yourself as it can get really confusing with all the different literature out there.

I've reviewed 3 of the hottest selling weight loss programs that are available online that all involve eating to lose weight.. One actually requires no exercise at all just so you can see that its not all about exercise, its more importantly about what you eat & it isn't a celery or cabbage soup diet either!  Do you own research or click here to read my reviews of popular programs which may help you. http://www.guidestoweightloss.com

Wishing you all the best of luck.
Cheers
James

I have found that a sound nutrition plan is the key to successful weight loss! Watch out for those so called 'FAD DIETS' and don' get suckered into the whole diet pill thing!

There are some secrets to losing weight that most diet pill manufacturers and weight loss magazines don't want you to know! They are in business because "Jane Q Public" purchases products from them. If everyone that bought from them successfully lost all the weight they needed then they wouldn't be able to sell you the next best thing.

The truth is that most diets are designed to fail from the start! Diets are associated with deprivation for a reason. Not surprisingly, they're also associated with a resolve that crumbles like a handful of potato chips in the face of temptation. Give in enough times, and you end up giving up altogether.

there are some great nutrition plans out there though. I have lost 70 lbs and I am in the best shape of my life simply by giving up on looking for the so called 'WONDER PILL' !!! It doesn't exist. I wish you all the success in the world. Losing weight is not as hard as some would have you think it is. It jst takes a good nutrition plan!

These are really problematic situations for who are disappointed with their body and it is not a hard nut to crack to come out of such situations. All you need is a better diet intake which can be termed as balanced diet plan and also follow exercises in a manner which are really not like a load for you rather you have the ability to enjoy the exercise and work out schedule. All the best

What kinds of physical activities do you enjoy?  It could be as simple as walking, jumping rope, hula hooping, dancing, or one of my favorites, rebounding.  Just pick something and start moving.  You can do it!

Hello all

I just wanted to give you some more information about how its going and where I am in the weight loss rat race.

I was gung-ho determined to do something about my weight since last October. Now we are in April and I havent been doing much about actively losing the weight.I have made small changes to my dietary intake such as eating more fruit and veg.I also eat  a lot more salmon.I havent touched alcohol in over 3 months and I have drastically cut down on chocolate. Those are the positives. As a result I have lost nearly a stone and a half.

Now the negatives I was only looking at Kcal levels instead of also monitoring the sugar content as well.As we all know sugar turns to fat during metabolism and you add more weight on through that as opposed to just calories. So no matter how much walking you do.It cancels out :( So don't fall into that pit like I did.Fruit juices and Apricot,Strawberry smoothies can be bad for your teeth  ie acids and your diet.careful of your Lucozades,Oasis,Tropicanas and Capri Sun fruit juices even Ribena...very high in sugars.

But the super positives...I feel so much better...less sluggish and I enjoy going for walks and making healthy meals.Other women will understand when I say other stuff is getting back to normal too.No more fear of PCOS.

Anyone care to add anymore little lessons that you've learned through your change in diet.I have 32 more pounds to drop but I can do it....yes I can.

AND SO CAN YOU!!!!!

PS anyone notice how the things yuo get told you can't have are the things you now desperately want even though before you never really had them anyway???? I really want Pot Noodle

Get a partner to work out with. I would also recommend getting a program that sets you up with exactly what to do. That is my thoughts.

I had the same problem and what worked for me was exercise. I tried biking but got sick of it real quick. I tried jogging in the morning but I'm not much of a morning person so that didn't last. Then I decided to try jogging at night. I jog for about 30 mins. M-Th and the only thing I changed diet wise is I cut down on sodas.

I lost 15lbs in the first month and another ten in the second. I actually enjoy it now. I also crave water more as I get more active.

I would say, to change your lifestyle, find an exercise you enjoy and can stick with.

Hope this helps.

Jim

Hiya jlueds thanks for your suggestions.I am really undisciplined when it comes being active.I've lost a stone but's taken me 2 months because I don't get physical.Today I'm looking up swimming classes and trying to get going.I hate runnning or jogging so that might be tough to stick to,but I love riding my bike....

Well done on  losing the pounds
