Today I am going to talk about a very simple form of exercise to loss weight. And that is walking. When I talk about walking to loss weight, people tends not to view walking as a real exercise to loss weight. This is because everyone walks everyday to work or to school. It seems so common. However since there is a strong relationship between weight loss and walking, there is no reason why walking cannot help to loss weight.
There are basically two forms of walking. One is slow walking. The other is brisk walking or power walking. To loss weight you must do power walking. In fact power walking is very effective in burning calories which result in weight loss. If you do not believe, try power walking for half an hour and you will see how much you really sweat.
I believe power walk can be most effective in weight loss then running for some people. This is because how many people when they break into a run can do a high speed run over a long period of time? When this people do a high speed run for a few minutes, they will tend to rest more. Walking can be a continuous affair. Many people can power walk for over 30mins or more. However how many people can do high speeds jog over the same period of time? The momentum build from walking can cause a person to loss even more calories then high speed run. High speed run are effective for people who are very fit to begin with. For people of poor fitness level, average fitness level and the elderly should focus more on power walking to loss weight.
There are many places that are good for power walking. Neighbourhood parks as well as beaches are perfect place for a walk. One of my favourite place is power walking along the beach. To make your walking more effective, why not try walking up a slope instead of just walking on flat ground. Walking on a slope not only helps strengthen your legs muscle, but it also will help you burn more calories. Walking on a flat ground involves less strain and thus fewer calories will be burn. However if you got knee problems, I do not advise walking on a slope. Just stick to walking on flat ground is fine.
How do tell the differences between normal walking and power walking. Well if let say you go walking with a friend. A normal walking will enable you to hold a conversation normally. For power walking you will be breathless trying to hold a conversation. So remember if you go walking with a friend make sure you feel breathless talking, as it means you are actually doing power walking.
Well walking is the simplest form of exercise and it is free. So what are you waiting for? Start walking today.
