Let's face it: the Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic book series has been better than the last three seasons of the TV series. So much so that creator Joss Whedon has taken to calling each story arc a new "season" of the Buffy saga. Dark Horse announced at Comic-Con that they are releasing each book as a motion comic, with a DVD to follow. More after the jump.

Season 8 features 19 episodes, which are being rolled out on iTunes for $0.99 each episode ($1.99 in HD). $14.99 will get you a season pass (or $29.99 for an HD season pass). Hardcore collectors and old schoolers may want to wait for the DVD collection. Set to release January 4, 2011, the DVD will include "limited edition Jo Chen packaging and a collectible reprint of Dark Horse Comic's first book in the series."
