1. Try to eat 5 meals per day (smaller portions), this
will increase your metabolism and help you feel fuller
for longer.



2. Always consume a satisfying breakfast preferably
consisting of carbohydrates and protein. This will kick
start your metabolism for the day and stabilise your
blood sugar levels.



3. When deciding on a portion size for your meal, your
carbohydrate (rice, potato, pasta, bread etc...) should
be no more than the size of your own palm and your
protein portion (meat, fish, tofu, nuts etc...) should be
no more than the size of your own fist.



4. Drink at least 2 litres of water a day (approximately
8 glasses).



5. Try to avoid caffeinated drinks, refined sugar or
sugary foods, alcoholic drinks and ready meals.



6. It is a good idea to eat a recovery bar or shake
straight after an intense workout to replenish nutrients
(this would count as one of your 5 meals a day).



7. Try to eat the bulk of your carbohydrates throughout
the day and less in the evening.



8. Try to consume 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein and 30%
fat per day, in order to stabilise blood sugar levels.



9. Eat at least 5 fruit and vegetables per day.



10. Remember: If calorie intake is higher than calorie
output per day then you will start to put on weight.

It is very important that your diet in the nutritious way. This way, you can ensure that your diet goes well in
plan. Here are some tips:

-Water is very important. If you don’t drink enough water, it may affect the performance of your workouts.
You should drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

-Eat only when you are really hungry. There are times you eat a lot when you are going through some kind of
emotion. Food is to nourish your body; your emotions could be taking care of in another way.

-Have antioxidants in your diet. You can get nutritional supplements as well as in addition to the natural
antioxidants like apples, plums and berries.

If you a senior citizen please remember that you need to place high priority to your diet plan. The same types of nutrients are required by senior citizen as are needed by those younger. But remember you need fewer calories compared to younger.

Also include emergency medical alert system to your health plan. It is crucial for senior citizens.
